Plot:

A husband and wife strive to keep their relationship together after moving into a new house as an evil spirit begins to infiltrate their lives.

Comment:

I saw it as the spouse suffering from a deep dark depression and the monster as a metaphor for suicide. The woman sensed her husband was about to lose it. The husband locks her out of the house so he may commit suicide, but she fights the "monster." He grabs her hand, recognizing he couldn't leave her and that he does have someone who truly loves him, and can now begin the arduous process of healing (why he still looks so sad at the end).
